Am trying to pick out only 12 pictures that I took in the last year as favorites and this one of the Mars Bar in the East Village keeps floating to the surface. I love the red paint on the air conditioner, the paint splattered on the sidewalk, but most of all the gentleman reading the paper. I’m always attracted to the facade of this place, which changes frequently, but it hasn’t looked this good since last September. Taken with my D90 in September 2009.

Something we have never considered before: Mars Bar as an ever-evolving work of art.

This place would let an Infant drink

When I was younger (probably 7 years old) and passed by Mars Bar, I was always reallly looking forward to drinking there because of how “cool” it looked. I wouldn’t exactly step foot in there now, but it brings back happy memories of when my aunt and her then-‘goth’ boyfriend would take me to St. Marks so they could buy Docs and other things that were so foreign to me at that age. Also, if my aunt saw St. Mark’s now, she would have a heart attack.
